Oyuu emphasized that the success of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system depends on timely and adequate funding for schools.

Collins Oyuu, the Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), has urged the government to ensure timely disbursement of capitation funds to schools.

Speaking in Migori County on Sunday, Oyuu emphasized that the success of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system depends on timely and adequate funding for schools.

He highlighted that school headteachers are facing challenges in managing their schools due to delays in the government's fund disbursements, forcing them to resort to borrowing money to keep operations running.

The KNUT Secretary General stated that headteachers are experiencing mental health challenges due to the pressure of managing schools without adequate funding.

Oyuu has emphasized that the current headteachers overseeing both primary and junior secondary schools should retain their positions, as suggested by the presidential task force on education reforms.

He stated that the government should not consider replacing them with new individuals to manage the junior secondary schools.
